The problem with anonymous witnesses is that it impedes the ability of the defence team to cross-examine – for example one criminal grassing up another may have his motive called into question; or perhaps four members of the Labour testifying that Mr Balloon could be held for 42 days without trial…
On the other fluffy foot, how do you make any case against big bad villains if you can't offer to protect the people who testify against them?
