Day 3490: Popping the Question

Thursday:

"Do you want the United Kingdom to adopt the 'alternative vote' system instead of the current 'first past the post' system for electing Members of Parliament to the House of Commons?"

Yes!

By which I mean: No! Not really. I want STV (Single Trunk Voting) not AV (Awful Voting). But that's not on the cards and this is a change at least vaguely in the right direction and better than a poke in the button eye, the like of which cannot be said of First Pass the Port, so grudgingly and grumblingly, oh all right then.

Next!

I'm still hoping against hope that someone will table an amendment for STV to be added to the referendum, and it'll somehow squeak through.

That said, preferentiality is more important to me than proportionality, so if it's AV or nothing I'll take AV without any hesitation at all...
